Ceylon Resort is located in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka, 35 km from the capital Anuradhapura.

The former royal city of Anaradhapura is still considered a holy city by the Buddhists. For over a thousand years, it was the centre of several Sinhalese royal dynasties.

38 km from Ceylon Resort, in Mahamevnāwa Park in Anuradhapura, is the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, the Holy Fig Tree. According to tradition, he was an offshoot of the historical Sri Maha Bodhi in Bodhgaya in northern India, under which Buddha attained enlightenment.
